Pastoral Care Resources

Our lives are not contained within the walls of the church building only. As a people gathered in community, we not only share our worship but we also share our individual needs. We know those needs go far beyond our community.

There are a variety of pastoral resources available at Transfiguration and though our relationships with organizations in the larger community. Here are a few that may be of assistance to you or someone you know.

Prayer Requests

Many members of our congregation make prayer a central part of their life and volunteer as members of our Prayer Chain ministry. If you have a need or a thanksgiving you would like these devoted individuals to offer in prayer, please submit your request below.

Individual Pastoral Care

Life sometimes deals us unexpected challenges, as well as, joys. Our Clergy are available to you on an individual basis during such times. Also, the clergy are available to assist you with deepening your spiritual life. You can call the Church Office to make an appointment or, in an emergency, you can call 972-233-1898 and press option 9. You can also send a message to our clergy.

Another option available to you is through our Stephen Ministry. Stephen Ministers are members of the congregation who have received extensive training and undergo continual supervision. They are commissioned to care for those who are experiencing a crisis or difficult life transition. A Stephen Minister walks beside an individual and allows himself or herself to be a conduit for Christ in healing the hurting person. He or she is not a counselor, therapist or problem-solver. Instead, the Stephen Minister helps the individual work through his or her crisis or situation by offering objective, active listening. Typically, the Stephen Minister meets with the Care Receiver weekly for one hour. Meetings generally continue until there is a mutual agreement that the crisis or need has ended. To look into the ministry of a Stephen Minister in your life, contact our clergy.

Food Assistance

The Transfiguration Food Pantry, founded in 2015, serves food insecure families in north Dallas. Our clients receive a week's worth of groceries each month. If you need assistance, you can apply for assistance through the Food Pantry by contacting Alan Justice or Jodi Dalton.

Additionally, we stock "A Little Pantry" near the church entrance where those who are hungry may take what they need. It's available 24/7/365.

Clothing Assistance

The Clothes Horse is a resale shop that has been in business since 1961. It offers budget-minded customers a source of reasonably priced, good quality apparel. Run by a group of approximately 80 volunteers, the Clothes Horse is located down the hill in front of the church's Youth Center at 14115 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas. Hours of operation are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm or whenever the blue & yellow signs are displayed. The Clothes Horse now accepts credit and debit cards.

Housing Assistance

Finding oneself unhoused or on the brink of being unhoused is a stressful situation. Whether the cause is economic or due to abuse or trauma there are resources available. Our clergy are available to help you identify those resources. Community partners we support and work closely with are:
